My dead friend Zoe is a drama of dark comedy that follows the journey of merit (Sonequa Martin-Green), a US Army Afghanistan veteran who is in disagreement with his family thanks to the presence of Zoe (Natalie Morales), his best Dead friend of the army. Despite the persistence of his group counselor VA (Morgan Freeman), the difficult love of his mother (Gloria Reuben) and the lightness of an unexpected loving interest, the dysfunctional friendship of merit with Zoe maintains the isolated duo in the world. That is, even the merit, the grandfather (Ed Harris) – hidden in the family’s ancestral house – begins to get lost and needs the only thing he refuses … helps. In its essence, this is a movie of friends about a complicated friendship, a divided family and the complex ways in which we process the grief.
