Riot was so impressed with the work that they asked Fortiche to create an animated series, which took several years to create. After the release of the first season, Riot announced that there would be a second season and that it would take less time to produce. Arcane follows two young orphaned sisters who grow up and get into trouble in the twin cities of Zaun and Piltover. The series is based on the video game League of Legends, and while it does drop you right into that fictional world, it takes time and care to create locations and characters that compliment the “show and don’t tell” fashion. The solid character development and world building means it’s a very enjoyable watch without knowing anything about the game. The animation is absolutely brilliant. As an anime fan, I found the animation in Arcane to be smoother than anything I’ve ever seen from an animated series. There’s an incredible amount of attention to detail. It’s clear that no artistic talent or money was spared in resurrecting the world of Runeterra. A great soundtrack, great acting, and a gripping story that doesn’t overwhelm the violence and more mature content. themes Only the first three episodes have been released so far, and I can’t wait to see what else they have to offer us!
