Segel told Goldstein that they should pitch it to Ford first, thinking he would reject it outright, but at least other people would hear that Harrison Ford was involved in the project, which sparked interest from other big-name actors. Eventually, Goldstein talked to Ford and convinced him to take the role. Goldstein still didn’t understand what he had done to convince him, but he was overjoyed nonetheless.

It’s pure and simple entertainment

Succinctly written, great one-liners, just enough pathos to keep it from turning into middle-grade Big Bang Theory, a joy to watch. Yes, real therapists wouldn’t behave this way, but anyone with a functioning brain cell would know that, so criticism from that point of view is just negative to downgrade. Are some of the characters stereotypes?

Finally, who knows what a great comedic actor Harrison Ford is?

Yes, but no offense and it shouldn’t be taken as such, FYI, I worked with a gay man who was exactly the stereotype shown here. The real success comes from combining the seriousness of therapy and grief with the pain of growing up at different ages, stages and lifestyles and making it damn funny. A complete revelation and worth watching this show for that alone.
